The day started with thigh high clean peeling waves, exactly what you want to see for a single fin logging contest. Through the day the cross-offshore winds built and built making conditions tough, but the skill of our surfers enabled a perfect display of longboard surfing. Chris Weston by Tom Prentice.
Log Jam UK took up the kind hospitatlity of the Hotdoggers Longboard Surfing Club based at Saunton Sands and ran with it bringing 30 ambassadors of UK logging together for a fun day at the beach, supported by a host of international brands, world class photographers, friends and family. Our overall Open winner Adam 'Bearman' Griffiths from Newquay showed off a display of nose-riding skills, complete wave riding ability and with the wave of the final just 30 seconds from the horn, pipped Elliot Dudley from South Wales into second place. Elliot was in great form throughout the event, with composure, powerful drop knee turns and locked in noserides on his ever present Bing Surfboards (the other 3 finalists all on Skindog Surfboards). Ben Howey from Bantham in third with incredible style through many critical sections taking The Most Critical Slide award and the legend, and current WSL host and commentator Sam Bleakley with classic soul arch noderides and lively off the tops bringing joy through the entire event. A world class display, with hoots from the beach as the tide pushed right up creating the perfect finale for the day.Chris Thomson captured by Nathan Benham
The pure quality of the line up ensured the semi finals could have easily been finals in their own right. Fellow semi finalists inlcuding Chris Thomson, whom represented the spirit of the Jam from start to finish, with amazing footwork, coffin rides, fin first take offs and noserides. Emily Currie, 24x National champ' was skilled and impressive in some tricky conditions. Locals Ashley Braunton and Jack Unsworth both shredding through out the event. There were no easy heats from start to finish!Emily Currie captured by Nathan Benham.
Our highest place junior Lola Bleakley also put on an impressive display of powerful turns, style and tip time. Lola captured by Nathan Benham.
