When you think of surfboard factories, the name Polen may not ring many bells, but when probably the best shaper in the world at the moment makes his boards there, they must be doing something right. Here we take a closer look at the polen surfboards factory:
The Polen factory was started in Portugal in 1988, situated in one of Europe's most versatile coastlines, an area offering world class point breaks, along with grinding beach breaks and hollow slabs it's no coincidence that they are making great surfboards.
The Factory quickly gained recognition in European surfing with several important titles being won by riders on their boards.
The original aim of the Polen surfboard factory was to produce the best surfboards in Europe, surfboards made from the same high quality materials that you would find in the world's best surfboard factories. They have now been making the highest quality surfboards for 27 years and that original aim has not changed. Progression, innovation and refinement are still the most important things to them.
Now in 2016, 27 years after the company was started by 2 brothers, they have 17 staff, 10 team riders and have attracted probably the world's best surfboard shaper at the moment to come and shape his boards for European distribution from their Portuguese factory: Jon Pyzel, the man behind World champion John John Florence's surfbaords and the winner of stab mags 2016 competition stab in the dark, choosen by Dane reynolds.
